Fireside Interview #3 xat Junior

Was this the right room? The walls were etched with faces – some laughing, some crying, some not even human. The scribbles of a madman, I thought. The carpet was stained yellow, with paint slowly dripping down from the ceiling onto my fedora. The fumes were dizzying, and I gasped for air like a surfacing blue whale. The light from the sun quickly panned up the wall to reveal yet more faces. Hundreds. Maybe even thousands. The entire wall was covered with them. The man himself, Junior, was doodling on a canvas in the center of the floor. The sound of girly pop music vibrated through his headphones, but I pretended not to notice. I cleared my throat repeatedly and began the interview…

Hello xat Junior, thank you for agreeing to be interviewed. As usual, I’m first going to ask you a few questions about your private life.

 

So what’s your real name, how old are you, where are you living and what are you studying?

My real name is Junior. I am 16 years old, I live in Dominican Republic and I’m still in high school.

What words would you chose if you had to define yourself?

Dangerous Man.

Do you have an interesting/funny fact to tell?

You can’t sneeze with your eyes open.

I heard you plan to go to Harvard, is that true?

LOL!! Well yes, I’m working pretty hard to reach that big goal I set myself.

 

Let’s come to what xat changed in your life.

For how long have you been on xat and how did you discover it?

I’ve been on xat since 2013. I discovered it from an old friend, I used to talk to her all the time, but she starts to be inactive on Facebook, then she told me she was so inactive because of a website she found, and I start to use it too to be with her.

What was your first impression of xat?

My first impression of xat wasn’t really good, I thought it was a little boring since I didn’t know anyone, I only talked with that friend but after a while I liked it, it started to be more interesting.

Did xat bring you something in real life? Did you meet xat users IRL?

No, I didn’t meet anyone IRL, but xat brought me the love for designing.

Did you discoverer designing on xat? 

Yes, before joining xat, I thought that I was going to be a lawyer (huh so boring!).

What’s your best memory on xat? When was it?

Hmm my best memory on xat was when I got mod on Fondos, it was a goal for me since I got member and worked hard until I reached it, it was on  March 2014.

What is the best year you spent on xat ?

Hmm my best year, not sure! I guess 2014 when all my friends were still here.

What was your favourite chat?

My favourite chat xat was Fondos, because there I could do what I really love, designing, and had really nice friends that now most of them quit.

What is your global impression of xat now?

Now my global impression is that this is an awesome site! Thanks xat I’ve learned a lot of things that I’m sure I hadn’t without it!

How long do you think you’ll stay on xat?

Hmm no idea, I think I’ll stay on xat until I am unable, because of work, studies, etc. I will be here until.

 

Now we would like to know what you think about different things of xat.

Who do you trust the most on xat? Is there someone you especially like?

I trust a lot of friends and people on xat. Yes, that is Lemona, we share the same likes and the obsession for Ariana Grande xD!

What do you think about the community?

I think this community is awesome, here you can find really nice, funny sometimes exasperating people, but it’s still great!

What is your favourite power?

My favourite power is random because you can use all the smilies of every power on xat at the same time!

What do you think of xat_test?

I think it is a nice chat, even though it is a testing chat, we enjoy and get fun talking and playing there, I think it is my current favourite chat, at least the chat I go the most on.

Even if now Maverick is the permanent main of xat_test, do you have a favourite month main owner of xat_test? 

Hmm I think I haven’t been on xat_test enough to say it, but I guess it was Josie‘s month, it was funny because everyone was staff !

What’s your favourite help support?

My favourite help supports are the help chats, you can express your problems or questions in a better way, you can get immediately an answer and for sure the staff will try to help you with the problem you have.

What do you think of the new forum?

The new forum is excellent, it has a really great design, so nice, I think that changing to IP Board was the best xat could’ve done to the forum.

Who is your role model?

No, I didn’t have a role model.

As you are talking about being a Smiley Maker, let me ask you what is being a Smiley Maker?

To be a Smiley Maker is just being a user with the ability to design things in flash, a user trusted enough to make designs for xat.

 

When did you become a Smiley Maker? How did it happen?

When did you become a Smiley Maker? How did it happen? 

I became a Smiley Maker on May 9th. One day (not sure the exact date, but it was some days before Floral power was released) I went to xat_test and stah told me that Mihay was looking for me, then Mihay PC’d me, took me to a chat and asked me if I wanted my designs to be on xat.

Was it a goal to reach?

Yes, it was totally a goal to reach, but I was surprised because I thought it was going to take years, I was so happy.

Do you have another goal to reach on xat? 

My next goal is to own xat.com! Nah xD, I don’t have any goal to reach on xat at the moment.

If you had 1 user to thank about your nomination, who would it be?

I would have to thank all of you guys for all the support you gave me and the good feelings, I’m sure that support and good thoughts was what helped me to reach this goal.

Did that change your chatting experience on xat?

I think it didn’t, my chatting experience is still the same that always and I want to keep it that way.

I’ve heard you know every single smiley of each power of xat, is that true? 

Hahaha, not really, I know a lot of smilies from a lot of powers, yes, but I guess there could be one I haven’t seen yet (this is because we, Smiley Makers, have to make sure we are not making an existing smiley or using a name that is taken).

Can you say what powers/smilies did you design?

Sure, the powers I have made so far are Aliblue, Planets, Roosters, Beautifly, Fireworkshug, Paints, Patrick, Easterland and the smilies are Redcard and Me.

Many users say you’re the best Smiley Maker, what do you think about it?

Well, I think I’m absolutely not the best Smiley Maker, but I could say that I am good on what I do and I try to do my best and to satisfy the people on everything I do!

What do you consider as your best creation? 

I think my best creation is not done yet, I’m still working on that one, but, if I had to choose one, It would be Aliblue.

Do you have any special message to end the interview?

Never give up, keep working hard and you will reach all your goals. “Everything’s possible when you put your mind to it.”
